Hornist Komsun Dilokkunanant joined School of Music, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM) in 2012 where he became Acting Dean of the school from January 2012 to July 2016. Before joining PGVIM, he was Head of Wind and Brass division at Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University. Komsun is currently on a study leave to pursue his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at School of Music, University of Iowa support by Royal Thai Government Scholarship.
Performing professionally since 18, Komsun orchestral experience includes the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Macao Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Siam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Asian Youth Orchestra. His solo career includes recitals in London, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and concerto performances on both horn and natural horn with Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Thai Youth Orchestra, Rangsit University Orchestra, and Bangkok Silpakorn Wind Orchestra.
As a conductor, Komsun conducted RSU Brass and Percussion Ensemble, ASEAN Youth Ensemble, and the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra. As an educator, Komsun has been very active as a guest clinician, giving workshops, masterclasses, and lecture where he enjoys nurturing next generation.
Komsun found the most pleasure in chamber music where he is a member of Thai-premiere woodwind quintet group -†’Sawasdee Woodwind Quintet’. The quintet has curated highly successful recitals in Thailand, Singapore, and Macao. Komsun arrangements for woodwind quintet and piano have been performed nationally and internationally.
A recipient of Fund for Classical Music Promotion under the patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Leverhulme Trust, London, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts scholarships, Komsun earned his Bachelor of Music (first class honor) and Professional Diploma (Distinction) from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and his Master of Music and Master in Music Performance (Guildhall Artist) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. His principal teachers include Jeffrey Agrell, Richard Bissill, Jeffrey Bryant, Hugh Seenan, Joe Kirtley, and Andrew Clark (natural horn).
