Bang Yi Khan: Community, Music and Life showcase, a part of the research project Innovation of Creative Music Process for Community Development: Case Study Bang Yi Khan Community, funded by the National Research Council of Thailand, by Performed by Bang Yi Khan’s children, on 25th December 2023 at Sangita Vadhana Hall, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Bangkok Thailand.
During the period of September to December 2023, a group of selected children participated in 18 workshops, where they were introduced to the fundamentals of playing musical instruments and singing. The musical instruments included the violin, viola, cello, ukulele, and keyboard. The workshops were divided into three phases, with the first phase focusing on the basics of playing musical instruments and singing, such as proper posture and playing gestures. The second phase involved rhythm and related musical activities, including collaborative musical composition. Finally, the third phase involved rehearsing as an ensemble and performing ten songs in different styles.
The study revealed that participating in music can have a positive impact on developing musical skills, social skills, creativity, and a better understanding of the community. The research suggests that music can enhance human potential and overall well-being at the individual and societal levels.
