Recycling Music: Music for Horn and Recycled Material

การแสดง Recycling Music: Music for Horn and Recycled Material ได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก British Council เพื่อสร้างความตระหนักถึงสภาวะโลกร้อนผ่านแง่มุมของศิลปะ แรงบันดาลใจการเกิดกิจกรรมนี้มาจากการการอ่านบทความเกี่ยวกับขวดพลาสติกและไมโครพลาสติกในมหาสมุทร ผ่านการสร้างสรรค์ขวดพลาสติกให้กลายเป็นเครื่องดนตรี

การแสดงในครั้งนี้เกิดจากความร่วมมือของกานต์สิรี จิรวัฒนพันธุ์ และธีธวัฒน์ ม่วงเกตุที่มีส่วนร่วมในการออกแบบขวดพลาสติกนำมาจัดวางสู่การทำเป็นเครื่องดนตรีที่ใช้ประกอบการแสดงดังกล่าว โดยการเปิดรับบริจาคขวดพลาสติกมากกว่า 500 ขวด และนำมาใข้การสร้างสรรค์งานในครั้งนี้ หลังจากการแสดงขวดพลาสติกที่ใช้ในการแสดงได้ถูกบริจาคให้กับวัดจากแดง โดยทางวัดได้นำขวดพลสติกที่ได้จากโครงการ ต่อยอดไปสู่การทอเป็นจีวรหรือผ้าไตร แสดงให้เห็นว่าเมื่อโครงการดังกล่าวได้สิ้นสุดลง โดยขวดพลาสติกที่ใช้ในการแสดงนั้น ได้นำไปต่อยอดอย่างเกิดประโยชน์อันดีต่อชุมชนต่อไป

The project was part of a grant by the British Council of Thailand to promote climate change awareness through the arts. Reading an article about plastic bottles and microplastics in the ocean inspired the project, leading to its retelling via a performance that brought the entire audience to the ocean bed. Accordingly, the primary musical instrument for the performance was plastic bottles.

During the preparation, plastic bottles were needed to create the bottlephone, the school-of-fish installation (designed by the young and brilliant Kansiree Chirawattanaphan with the help of Teetawat Mounggate), and as part of the overall setup. A public call was made to see if anyone would be willing to donate used bottles. Within just a few days, more than 500 plastic bottles were collected, upcycled, and incorporated into the project, which was presented on 1 June 2024 as part of PGMF – Princess Galyani Vadhana International Music Festival 2024.

This morning, the plastic bottles were donated to วัดจากแดง (Wat Chak Daeng) for their upcycling project, where they will be woven into monk robes or ผ้าไตร (check the following link for more information – https://watchakdaeng.com/2020/donation-of-plastic-bottles/) Thus, the project has concluded, with the plastic bottles continuing to serve a responsible and beneficial purpose for the community.
